The contractor we selected to do our kitchen remodel, the ceiling lighting downstairs, crown molding, refinishing of our hardwood floor downstairs, and a few other tasks, uses Garibay Hardwood Floors as his flooring contractor. That was our good fortune.
A few years ago, we installed over 1000 feet of very high quality 3/4-inch solid hickory from a manufacturer in New Hampshire (Carlisle) for our downstairs floor, including kitchen. During the kitchen remodel we removed a wall bordering our kitchen to open up the space and consequently we had to install matching hardwood where the hole was. Garibay found high quality hardwood locally that matched perfectly, and after the remodel, he did a masterful refinishing job on the rest of the hardwood floor downstairs.
Our plank floor manufacturer recommends finishing the floor in tung oil rather than polyurethane-based material because it is richer looking. Turns out it is also easier to maintain. We went with that. Tung oil is very expensive. State and local laws restrict its use because it is highly VOC-laden and toxic. It also requires 3 applications for flooring with 24-hours in between. Although the smell dissipates eventually, you basically have to move out. That's why not many homeowners ask for tung oil any more. But since I was so enthusiastic about refinishing the floor in tung oil again, the owner, Javier Garibay, looked into it, discovered the advantages, then went to the distributor (or manufacturer, Waterlox, can't remember which) to learn all about it. Now Garibay is the only harwood floor company that knows tung oil around here. He's checked out and I will be using him for the inevitable scratch-repairs from our dog. (You can't spot-sand and refinish with urethane I learned.) We will also be redoing our stairway, too. Thank you Garibay Hardwood Floors!

We have had Garibay refinish our hardwood floors that we thought were going to have to be replaced. They sanded them down to the bare wood and refinished them and brought them back to new condition. We could not believe how beautiful they looked! We purchased a new home and had Garibay come and recondition the existing cherry floors with a coat of urethan. We also had them install new wood upstairs and replace the stair treads with Brazilian Cherry. Their work is impeccable and the new floors are gorgeous. We couldn't be happier. If you're thinking about getting your existing floors redone or adding new hardwood, give them a call!

We are a repeat customer of Garibay HW Floors, and once again Javier and his team have exceeded our expectations! We had to have our Brazilian Cherry hardwood replaced due to some damage. Garibay restored the damaged floor and refinished the floor and surrounding floors to perfect condition. While we were at it, we had new baseboards installed by Javier's team, and their attention to detail is truly special (see photo). Where the baseboards overlapped a cold air intake for the HVAC system, most contractors would just cut the baseboard in around the vent. But Javier's team did a beautiful mitered cut to frame the baseboard around the vent, which made it look, perfect! I'll attach a picture of the baseboard around the vent, as it is a work of art!

We've hired Javier of Garibay Hardwood Floors three times in the past 12 years, and all three times have been thoroughly pleased. Javier can do it all, and has done so for us. Here is what he has done for us:
1) Install a tongue and groove front porch floor floor (paint grade)
2) Install a tongue and groove douglas fir floor, using 50 year-old wood, to match the existing floors in the home (stain grade)
3) Install a prefinished engineering flooring over concrete.
4) Refinish engineered maple (sand, stain, clear-coat). Staining maple is not easy and Javier did an amazing job!
5) Install solid wood stair treads (stairs had been carpet previously).
6) Install prefinished engineered flooring over wood subfloor.
7) Install new baseboards and door casings
All tolled he has done about 4,000 sq ft of wood floors for us, plus a couple sets of stairs.
Javier aims to please at every step of the way. He loves what he does and it shows!
I recommend Javier without hesitation, and will gladly hire him for our next project.
